Structure
Two keys One vault
The vault contents are wrapped twice: Once with your master password, once with the emergency key. Both open the same contents, neither reveals the other.

A supplement to a will Not a replacement
Siguria supplements a will. The application is not a will itself and does not replace a notarised last will and testament. It makes sure that the last will remains technically enforceable.
Local control also means your own responsibility: A strong master password, a protected device and a reliable backup are part of it. The timed release only checks while the application is running; the primary safeguard therefore deliberately remains the printed emergency envelope.

What you should know before setting it up
What happens if I forget my master password?
Then you open the vault with the emergency key from the printed envelope. If neither exists any more, the contents stay locked for good. That is not a weakness, it is the heart of the method: There is no recovery path that an attacker could use either.
Where is my data kept?
Solely on your device, in a data folder you can inspect and copy at any time. To make a backup it is enough to back up that folder, or you use the backup export inside the application.
Is there a cloud sync across several devices?
No, an automatic cloud sync is deliberately not provided. Anyone using several devices works with their own backup and decides for themselves what goes where.
How will my heirs find out about it?
Through the printed emergency envelope you keep together with your will. In addition you can set up the timed release, which automatically sends a message to the registered heirs after a period you choose without a sign-in.
I already use Clu: Tresor or Clu: Kennwort. What now?
Both products have been merged into Siguria. Get in touch with us and we will discuss the switch and the transfer of your entries.
How do I get Siguria?
